MIKA Debut Art Exhibition – 11-14 July 2007

30/04/2007

MIKA announces a major exhibition of the art created around the release of his number one debut album ‘Life in Cartoon Motion’, showing at the Blink Gallery, Poland Street in London from 11-14th July 2007. It will include original paintings, sketches and drawings that went into his artwork as well as other art pieces he has created over the years. The style of MIKA’s art is a riot of colour and ideas referencing pop art, 60’s pysch art and illustrators/comic artistes such as Tony Millionaire and Jim Woodring, It will be co-curated by Mika, the artist Da Wack (MIKA’s sister who painstakingly hand-paints his designs) and the design company Airside (Lemon Jelly, Pet Shop Boys etc) who help turn MIKA’s art into sleeve designs. The exhibition will be an exciting immersive environment, with everything from walls, windows and doors painted in abstract psychedelic murals, the embodiment of ‘Mika-world’. Colourful and irreverent, this will be the antithesis of the traditional art gallery concept with an opportunity to get up close to the creations that have won over thousands of fans and critics including Billy Brown, Big Girl and Lollipop Girl. MIKA says: “I created a world for my music to exist within and we wanted to allow people to immerse themselves in this via this exhibition. It is important to create an exiting environment. I want it to feel like you are walking into the “world of Mika”. Colourful, psychedelic and irreverent, not serious and stuffy like a boring gallery.”

Damned, pengen banget liat karya-karyanya.  Colourful, psychedelic and irreverent, not serious and stuffy like a boring gallery. See… !!!
